10 Critically-Acclaimed Video Games That BOMBED

9. Gravity Rush 2 (PS4)

There were several games that could be considered excellent proof of concept for the PS Vita: Tearaway for its unique utilisation of the hardware inputs, Uncharted Golden Abyss as a sheer graphical showcase, and Gravity Rush as a mixture of the two.

Using gyroscopic controls, players could tilt the centre of gravity to any point in the world and watch as its main character, Kat, hurtled dramatically towards it - like Buzz Lightyear emphatically asserts, "it's not flying - it's falling... with style!"

Mixed with some impressive stylised visuals and an enchanting soundtrack, the blancmange-haired Kat left a strong impression with critics, who regarded the game as a must-buy for the system.

It made sense, then, to release a sequel on the far more powerful PS4 console - in theory, at least.

Gravity Rush 2 was certainly far more refined in terms of gameplay, and graphically the upgrade was notable (particularly in the rich environment design), however due to heavy competition, being a more niche title, and the fact it was a sequel to a game many, many people hadn't even heard of, let alone played (as the PSVita sold around 12 units worldwide), sales were considered lacklustre overall, and as such, Kat's gravity-contorting adventures may well be shelved for now.
