10 Crucial Things The Nintendo Switch Must Do In Year One
1. Reveal Super Mario Switch As A Launch Title
Zelda is for the Nintendo fans. Mario is for everybody. It's that simple.
We now know from sources such as Nintendo's Twitter account that the 13th of January is the next time information will drop from Nintendo themselves. That's a long time to wait, but also gives Nintendo time, based on favourable media reaction to the Switch, to organise what they'll have on shelves at launch and what will launch in the console's crucial first six months of life.
I also think this game could just possibly be Super Mario Galaxy 3. I know I’ve been personally guilty of harping on about this before - but seriously, just listen:
Science-fiction has undergone a rather fascinating cultural renaissance over the past ten years and still enjoys a good deal of popularity in the public consciousness. The camera positioning in the two levels shown in the announcement trailer are much more Super Mario 64 rather than Super Mario 3D World. It also showed what looked like a street, in a town, residing on a world with a fantastic transparent moon looming in the distance. There are also strange glassy mountains that are seemingly freezing parts of the landscape dotted everywhere.
Does this mean this new Mario is set in some frozen galaxy far, far away?
Now, certainly we shouldn’t expect No Man’s Sky meets Mario in 3D. But what if Nintendo revisit the galaxy/universe idea and blend it with the current iteration of Mario? Just where is Mario exploring in those two tiny glimpses of the next title?
