Being a loving homage to schlocky teen horrors, Man Of Medan is full to the gunnels with jump scares. Throughout your time on the derelict ship, you'll be treated to a parade of things jumping out at you to the accompaniment of loud musical stings.

While it's typically easy see these fun little scares coming from a mile away, Man Of Medan is most effective when it gets creative with its gameplay mechanics.

At one point in the game, Alex and Julia will find their way into a deserted crew quarters. And with there being no sign of any imminent danger, you're therefore free to explore at your leisure.

Examining objects is a fundamental component of this series. It's how the sinister secrets of the ship are uncovered, and by this point you'll have become used to picking up everything you can. Therefore, when taking a moment to inspect a small skull, you'll assume it's business as usual.

When placing the item back down, however, the developers deploy a fiendish jump scare as a ghostly hand reaches out to grab Alex.

After hiding an unexpected scare disguised as a core mechanic, trusting interactive objects after this point proved to be a difficult task.
