3. The Rock, Paper, Scissors Gameplay - WWE SmackDown Vs. Raw 2008 For Nintendo DS
From one Nintendo handheld release to another now, the DS version of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 promised a unique experience that would take full advantage of the DS' touchscreen, yet players still expected the game not to deviate too far from the series' tried-and-tested formula.
The game's box art categorically failed to inform players that the DS version didn't feature any movement or grappling at all, with moves instead being decided through a series of touch-based, rock, paper, scissors-style mini-games.
Unsurprisingly players en masse were extremely miffed to discover the total lack of free-flowing wrestling gameplay on offer - especially those poor souls who got the game for Christmas, excitedly put it in their DS, and quickly realised the horrifying truth.
Presumably due to the game's poor reception, developers Amaze Entertainment were dismissed from the franchise and replaced with Tose, who for the 2009 and 2010 DS games opted for a more conventional gameplay style which, you know, actually used the D-pad.
