9. Rayman: Legends
In 2011 Ubisoft decided to take a gamble and revive one of the most beloved mascots in all of gaming; Rayman! The result was a highly successful franchise reboot in Rayman: Origins, a game that took the character away from all of the Raving Rabbids nonsense and dropped him back into the environment of an old-school, tough as nails, hardcore platformer. Gamers everywhere rejoiced when Rayman: Legends was announced as a Wii U exclusive, coaxing some gamers on the fence to actually buy the system. The game was slotted for a perfectly timed February release date that wouldnt coincide with much happening in the world of gaming. Ubisoft then delayed a FINISHED game to September so that the developers could work on releasing PS3/360 versions alongside the Wii U version. First of all, if you bought a Wii U to play Rayman: Legends you have my deepest sympathies; you truly got screwed over. The real issue with Ubisofts brilliant plan is that they chose September as a new release date, effectively rendering the game a doomed sales disappointment considering that almost every gamer was playing Grand Theft Auto V during that time frame. Good going Ubisoft! Nevertheless, I urge you to go back and check this one out because the developers really did outdo themselves with another vibrantly colourful, platforming masterpiece.
