10 Cryptic Messages Found In Video Games We'll Never Understand

The Battlefield franchise understandably isn't one that most players associate with hidden messages and creepy secrets, but this Battlefield 4 nevertheless Easter egg satisfies both.

In the Nansha Strike map from the game's Naval Strike expansion, players are able to reach an underground tunnel with a sealed door and a security camera on the wall next to it.

Hang around the area for around a minute-or-so and you'll start to hear creepy, scarcely comprehensible messages be whispered by a spectral voice.

The messages have been interpreted as "Get out," "Leave this place, and "Stay away," while other unsettling growls and noises are simply too garbled to make sense of.

Given that Chinese writing nearby translates to "Underground Project 273" and the light next to the door spells out "EWA" in Morse code, many began to suspect that some sort of experiment was taking place behind the door, if only players could figure out how to open the door.

Sadly in the seven-plus years since the game's release, nobody's ever successfully gained access, and though one player clipped through the door to "prove" there was nothing behind it, that doesn't conclusively mean that opening the door the intended way wouldn't trigger something.

It's probably best to assume EA just included this as a ridiculous Easter egg to taunt players, but fans are still very much haunted by it.
