Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines launched in 2004 to a relatively luke-warm reception. This was largely due to the technical bugs that hampered the gameplay experience but the immersive sim was also unfortunate enough to launch at the same time as the much anticipated Half-Life 2, which certainly didn't help sales.

Despite the many bugs and lacklustre launch, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines featured an engaging game world and intriguing cast of characters and has managed to amass quite the cult following since its release, even being labelled by many as one of the best role-playing experiences of all time.

The game gave players the freedom to build their characters to fit their playstyle, as well as a plethora of options in how to tackle most objectives.

Playing the game today requires the installation of an unofficial, fan-made patch that eliminates many of the game-breaking bugs and is almost a must for players that wish to boot up the beloved RPG.

With a sequel in the works set to follow on from the events of the original, now may be a great opportunity to spruce up the first title to give players the opportunity to experience the story in time for the sequels release.
