10 Cult Gaming Classics That Deserved Mainstream Success

9. The Tomba Franchise

tomba-600x300 The PS1 including the fifth generation as a whole was overflowing with mascot platformers making it only logical although unfortunate that some get lost in the shuffle. Tomba never fully embraced the fresh and revolutionary 3D style which potentially worked against it, but it thrived on traditional 2D platforming with a twist. Outside of battling evil pigs, Tomba€™s linear based levels featured objectives and hidden key items to find to help out various citizens. The artstyle and aesthetic design was also charming and colorful with luscious forests and feral jungle environments. Over-saturation of the market and dated design just held this one back.
