The downloadable add-on to New Vegas, the Lonesome Road DLC, sees you venturing to The Divide, a vast, once-flourishing area that has slowly been dying over the past few years. While there, you're attempting to find a Courier named Ulysses, a man who turned down the offer to carry the platinum chip that kickstarted the events of the main game. Throughout all of the separate DLC packs released for New Vegas you're essentially fighting through the aftermath of Ulysses' journey, dealing with the consequences of his actions. However, when you finally catch up to him in the wasteland of The Divide, it becomes clear just why the character hates your guts so much. Essentially, he sees your Courier as the person he should have been. He's been on a similar path as you the entire time - but making all the wrong decisions in the process. Likewise, it turns out that your character ironically aided the destruction of The Divide, a settlement that your actions in the main game actually helped make a reality. It's a rather convoluted story, yet the way it's weaved throughout the entire main game and its expansions makes for one of the most satisfyingly poignant endings to any quest in the Fallout series.
