In some ways, this spell is the signature move of sorcerers in Dark Souls. More or less every sorcery-using NPC you encounter is capable of using this one against you, and you only need to get hit with it once to see just how much damage it does.

While there is a more powerful version called Crystal Soul Spear, its limited number of casts and expensiveness to both buy and use seldom makes it more useful than the bog-standard Soul Spear. As the name suggests, the spell consists of a huge, sharp jet of blue soul energy being shot towards its target, resembling a spear in both size and effectiveness.

As soon as the sorcery becomes available to buy, you'll instantly think of it as the trump card in your magic arsenal (if you're prepared to fork out 40,000 souls for it, that is). And while you can't go about using it on anything and everything, the select targets that get to taste its nasty bite will go down in no time at all.
