10 Deleted Scenes That Explain Confusing Gaming Moments

8. Illusive Man Boss Fight - Mass Effect 3

Mass Effect 3's ending was a cataclysmic mess of confusion and irritation, as players discovered that their decisions across the trilogy ultimately amounted to "pick a colour, any colour."

More to the point, the expected final boss fight against the Illusive Man is nothing more than a simple dialogue, and the last combat encounter in the game is against a random Marauder.

But in a post-release interview, Mass Effect 3 director Casey Hudson confirmed that the player did originally face off against a Reaper-indoctrinated version of the Illusive Man before being able to activate the Crucible and end the game. Ultimately this was scrapped for being, wait for it, too video game-y.

But picking an arbitrary colour to receive an ending isn't too video game-y, right? Though an epic boss fight against the villain likely wouldn't have redeemed the entire game, it at least would've taken some of the underwhelming stink away.
