10 Deleted Video Game Scenes You Need To See

Annnnnnnd CUT!

One of the best parts of buying a movie once it hits home release, is the ability it allows you to view scenes that were left on the cutting room floor. This allows you to view pivotal moments in a new light, fill in missing gaps or even see quirky, alternative takes on scenes.

Games don't really offer that luxury. Extras often stay regulated to concept art, behind the scenes and unlockable extras. The inclusion of deleted scenes isn't well documented.

Over their development cycle, games evolve, mutate and transform into very different beasts that their initial idea is. Key decisions need to be made to create a sense of pacing or because they simply didn't fit into the tone of the story.

Finding deleted scenes is basically a treasure hunt at this point, as many of the ideas that weren't realised, never made it to the final stages. But every now and again, some scenes slip through the cracks. From data mining, to gameplay at E3 presentations that never made the final product, there's a wide amount of hidden content to find.

Here are ten scenes that managed to be discovered that you NEED to see.

10. Ghostbusters - Thanksgiving Day Parade

Those who have delved into Ghostbusters: The Video Game no doubt hold it on a high pedestal. Some consider it the official sequel to the original movie and completely canon in the universe. Others have even completely dismissed Ghostbusters II and place this as the only sequel.

Much like both of those movies, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is also privy to cut content. However, a lost scene was pulled from the games data which would have centred around a Thanksgiving Day parade.

Before release, certain promotional material, such as trailers, hinted towards the inclusion of this level. It would have seen our favourite ghost busting gang on top of one of the floats, engaging in dramatic fights against the ghouls that plagued the city.

Little remains from this now, but for those who have dug deep down into the games data have managed to find cutscenes pulled exactly from that moment. It's clear that this was originally intended to be an integral part of the story, as certain levels reference the events, but unfortunately, never saw the light of day.

Why it was cut, no one knows, but it would be really cool to see it implemented again some day.
