10 Demos That Made You AVOID Video Games
1. Metal Gear Survive
Let's be honest, it didn't necessarily take a demo for people to be uninterested in Metal Gear Survive, developer Konami's hail marry to recoup money lost on the over-budget Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
But it actually wasn't the worst idea in the world. Survival games can be made cheap and were still at the height of their popularity at the time. This had a real chance at surprising people with a truly great demo.
Unfortunately, Survive's public beta only confirmed everyone's concerns.
The demo dropped you and other players into a scenario where you had to defend a generator against waves of zombies. Each match granted rewards that can be carried over to the next match, but in a baffling choice, the game didn't allow co-op in the main campaign, making these multiplayer matches feel like an afterthought.
However, it was enough for players get the gist. Metal Gear Survive was grindy, convoluted and dull.
Look Konami, we get it, this game needed to make as much profit as possible, but this came off feeling less like a budget title and more like an incomplete player-made mod for MGSV - ironically, a game with one of the best demos of all time.
