When it was released some 10-years ago Metal Gear Solid 3 comprised the normal nukes, espionage and stealth which fans of the series had come to love but what Snake-aficionados didnt bargain on was for Konami to throw them a spiteful little curve-ball which left them feeling empty inside after the credits hit the screen. This curveball was of course the now infamous twist at the end of the game which saw Snake killing his former mentor, The Boss, under the false pretence that she had defected to those conniving Soviets. The Boss of course had not defected she had in fact staged the betrayal in order to infiltrate Volgin's ranks; exactly the same move employed by Snape to get in the fold with Voldemort! In the games final cutscene Snake stands over The Boss gravestone, laying down his former mentors gun and some flowers to show his respect. He then salutes and sheds a single tear. How could you do this to us, Konami? A Silver Lining? We all still went out and bought Guns of the Patriots and Ground Zeroes, so Konami couldnt have hurt us too bad. Its either that or were just huge pushovers.
