8. General Shepherd Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
For some reason I seem to use Call of Duty rather a lot in my articles despite the fact that I consider it to be a terrible game. The problem is the vast majority of people buy the game purely for the multi-player aspect, whilst I shell out £60 a year for a few hours of single-player. All my hate aside, I did somewhat enjoy the story of the first Modern Warfare game and I've been following Soap and Prices story ever since. Modern Warfare 2 continued said story so without even thinking, I popped onto Steam on the day of release and made the purchase. The story itself wasn't too good by what did come as a surprise, other than the fact I bought the game, was General Shepherds betrayal. I was taken in by the whole story and didn't think for a moment that it had anything to do with any American forces. When Allen was killed by Makarov I was a tad confused; how on earth did he know that Allen was part of the American forces? Actually, how on Earth did Allen pass as a Russian in the first place? When Shepherd finally did turn on Roach and Ghost it did come as a shock, I didn't fully understand why he had turned on them or how Price knew until, well, after Id finished the game. Whilst it wasn't as beautifully as done as with other games, it was still a rather good betrayal for a Call of Duty game.
