10 Disgusting Video Game Achievements That Came Out Of Nowhere

8. Butcher - Heavy Rain

Heavy Rain finger
Quantic Dream

Heavy Rain really puts its primary protagonist Ethan Mars through the ringer, perhaps nowhere more so than in The Lizard trial where in order to save his son he has to chop off his own finger.

Well, technically, it’s only the last section of one of his fingers, but that’s still more finger than you’d really like to be chopping off. Our hero Ethan does have a decision to make here, as there are plenty of phalange-chopping implements to choose from. There is a hatchet to get the job done quickly, pliers if for some reason that sounds not painful, or you can get the ‘Butcher’ achievement if you opt for the scissors or the saw.

That’s because both of these implements require an extended session of the world’s most sickening quicktime events as Ethan howls in pain as he attempts repeatedly to get the gory job done.

The visual combined with Pascal Langdale’s blood-curdling screams is genuinely nausea-inducing, but, hey, you got that ‘cheev.
