2. Grand Theft Auto V - Torture
Media outlets always love to criticise mainstream games such as Grand Theft Auto. Many stories have already arose linking the latest installment to a number of crimes such as robbery, assault and murder, condemning the game for encouraging such behaviour. The game was also criticised for being a terrorist simulator in which players are put in the position of the bad guys where they steal cars, organise heists, battle with the police and so on. It's no surprise that when it was revealed that Grand Theft Auto V included a torture scene, it gained a great deal of media attention, then. The scene forces the player to become the torturer and, as the scene plays out, certain buttons must be pressed to initiate the various forms of torture (including teeth pulling, electrocution and blunt force trauma). Whilst the scene is not particularly gory or bloody, especially when compared to other games already mentioned, it reaches the second spot on this list due to its current relevance and the shear level of hype that has surrounded it. Many players have expressed confusion as to why the torture scene is getting so much negative attention in comparison to far more graphic games available, though some have expressed more uneasy feelings, having been made uncomfortable with carrying out such acts and challenging their own morals. For a franchise such as Grand Theft Auto, the scene was somewhat unexpected and its "realism" may well have disturbed unsuspecting players or those that were not directly acquainted with the game.
