10 Divisive Video Game Characters You're COMPLETELY Wrong About

2. Preston Garvery - Fallout 4

Jack Marston
Bethesda

It would be no overexaggeration to say that Preston Garvey is one of the most hated characters in Fallout 4. His infamy is an effect of his boring personality, combined with the fact that Preston never shuts up about new settlements that need saving.

The latter is why most people don't give Preston a chance to prove himself as a character, which is a shame because there's actually way more to him than meets the eye.

As the last surviving member of the Minutemen, the self-organized civilian militia of the Commonwealth, Preston has a lot on his plate. He's forced to watch over the remaining survivors of the Minutemen massacre and make something of his now-defunct organization, all while struggling with the grief of watching his friends die.

When you meet him, he's depressed and suicidal, but because he's also a man of duty, he always tries to keep a straight face. So yes, his tone might sound dull, and he may not be as expressive as your other companions, but that's because deep inside, Preston is a broken man trying to find a new purpose in life.

He also loves marking settlements on your map but that's more of a game design issue.
