10 DLCs That Totally Missed The Point Of The Game
7. Marvel's Midnight Suns - Season Pass
You certainly did, Stephen.
The criminally underrated Marvel's Midnight Suns was a beautifully bizarre mash-up that, against all odds, successfully combined a wonderfully deep card-battler with a Persona-style social system that encouraged you to hang out with the Avengers between missions. Sadly, horrendously poor sales mean we will never see its like again.
Which is what makes the small slice of additional content we did get so disappointing.
Midnight Suns' season pass was, frankly, terrible. The original game sang because of its intricate turn-based battles, which pitted the game's expertly designed cast of heroes against a thoughtfully curated selection of enemy combatants. The Season Pass, unfortunately, failed on both these fronts.
Despite featuring a bevy of heavy hitters - Deadpool, Storm, Venom and (*checks notes*) Morbius - none of them were given the care they deserved, with many of them reusing abilities and animations from the game's original group of heroes. And the new Vampire (sorry, Vampyre) enemy faction were a chore to fight, especially with their irritating ability to resurrect fallen troops.
Midnight Suns' DLC was a wasted opportunity that saw one of 2022's best games fizzle out of existence, rather than go out in the blaze of glory it deserved.
