10 Epic Video Games You Probably Never Finished

6. Disgaea: Hour Of Darkness

Disgaea is infamous for it's deep character building system. One of its biggest features is the ability to take your characters to level 9999, unlocking and equipping constant rollouts of abilities and equipment the entire time.

That's impressive, but getting to that point is another matter entirely. While Disgaea is fun to play and sports a decent enough story, your primary motivation to continue playing comes from grinding, grinding and more grinding. Even if you don't intend to reach the absurd ranges the game will allow you to level your character up to, it's interesting how much the drive to build a given class is diminished when the rewards for doing so are spread so thin.

When levels begin to become mere numbers with only incremental rewards, they start to lose all meaning. That said, even though you may never actually beat it, Disgaea is very much a game that is still worth playing.
