Another year, another zombie game to kick things off with. Dying Light is yet another entry in the ever growing zombie survival horror genre, and it manages to do just enough different to distinguish itself in an incredibly saturated market. The main draw of Dying Light is its open-world metropolis, which features a dynamic day and night cycle. The base formula requires the player to scout and scavenge during the day, as the zombies become weaker, slower and less bloodthirsty. Night time is filled with terror though, as the infected transform into sprinting monsters, who are able to freerun up walls and rooftops. Dying Light's online functionality has proven to be a bit of a disappointment, and the gunplay mechanics feel far less smooth than the excellent melee combat. Fortunately, and despite these issues, the frantic gameplay and detailed environments mean most zombie fans will find a lot to love in this satisfying, open-world apocalypse.
