Typically, when a game is licensed off a movie, it doesn't fare well with players. Frankly, they often suck by either having little to nothing to do with the franchise they are attached to, or they seem forced. That was certainly the case with the infamous E.T. game for the Atari 2600, and sadly, it's a trend that continues.

Still, when Disney puts together a game based on one of its most popular movies, they don't rush the process, and as a result, they may be the only company that handles movie to video game translations well. That's certainly the case for Aladdin, which is one of the best Disney games made during the 16-bit era.

Disney's Aladdin dropped for all the major consoles in 1993, and while they were all pretty much the same, the Sega Genesis port is widely considered to be the best of the bunch. The graphics and gameplay excelled on that system, whereas the SNES version was noticeably reduced in quality.

Aladdin ended up being one of the best-selling games for the Genesis, shipping more than four million copies. Because it remains popular to this day, it continues to be ported to modern devices, which most recently manifested as part of Disney Classic Games: Aladdin and The Lion King for the PC, Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
