10 Essential Dungeons And Dragons Video Games For Hardcore Fans
7. Ravenloft
Set in the iconic campaign setting which people are still using to this day, these two games – Ravenloft: Strahd’s Possession and Ravenloft: Stone Prophet – are incredibly innovative as they’re some of the earliest examples of games which use 3D computer graphics. Keyboard arrows and a moose were used to move around and even change your perspective. By using your mouse to lock onto enemies, you could fight by taking turns with your party members, and the game actually has a fairly steep learning curve.
With the stats that we know and love from our tabletop games and an engine which is surprisingly competent for its time, the Ravenloft games are aa true work of art. There’s even a minimap in the top corner to stop you getting lost, and voice acting was used to give the characters more personality – though Strahd’s voice might need a little work. The games might be a little slow and cumbersome, but that’s to be expected of a rather advanced game on such an old system, and I would definitely recommend trying them out.
