10 Essential Dungeons And Dragons Video Games For Hardcore Fans

6. Eye Of The Beholder

During a period where everyone and their mother’s were playing first-person dungeon crawlers, D&D hopped on the bandwagon, and we’re so glad they did. Initially released in 1991 and later getting a Game Boy Advance remake in 2002, this is one that fans absolutely love.

The game itself takes characters and setting we’re familiar with from Dungeons and Dragons, as the lords of Waterdeep hire your adventuring party to root out the underground evil who turns out to be the beholder Xanathar himself. Through the course of the game you have to fight many drow and dwarves as you explore this first-person 3D dungeon.

This game even has a customisable party, as you initially start with four members but can gain more by finding NPCs or resurrecting dead ones, giving the game such more flavour and personality. You can even port your party into The Legend of Darkmoon and from there into Assault on Myth Drannor so you can play through all three games with the same group of adventurers.

This game has so much heart that, other than its age, it’s difficult to find fault with it.
