10 Essential First-Person Shooter Campaigns You Must Play

If you really want to start splitting hairs, yes, the Knight games can be played in third-person if you toggle the camera - and it's especially awesome for some behind-the-back lightsaber duels - but the hook is hybridising the two, firing off your trusty blaster one minute, before switching to a 'saber and clashing with other enemies up close.

The Jedi Academy games tend to be mostly forgotten about when choosing truly standout FPS campaigns, but with LucasArts at the helm, all were truly spectacular - in particular Jedi Outcast, thanks to protagonist Kyle Katarn becoming an underling of Luke Skywalker himself.

Combat is the standout feature that hasn't aged a day (other than through its primitive animations), letting you deflect blaster bolts with practice, switch to a pistol or rifle for more standard run n' gun gameplay and unleash a bevy of force powers that send Stormtroopers careening off cliffs.

If you were a Star Wars fan, it was - and still can be if you find a copy - absolute heaven.
