10 Essential PS4 Games You Must Play In 2017

Before playing Yakuza 0, I genuinely didn’t think that a legitimately tense, emotional crime drama could mix so well with disco dancing mini-games. I was quickly proven wrong, with this PS4 instalment of the long running Yakuza franchise.

As the name might suggest, Yakuza 0 serves as a prequel to the entire series. You’ll take control of two different characters whilst exploring hub worlds and separate levels, set in 1980s Japan.

The game world is rich, full of appropriate references to the time period and snippets of culture which may alienate western audiences at first, but you’ll no doubt come to love all of the quirks.

Whilst the game is for the most part an action brawler, there are a significant number of mini-games to really sink your teeth in to. They range from the simple, such as fully playable SEGA arcade classics (Outrun FTW) and karaoke, to full scale business and property management games that you could easily spend all of your time playing. Yakuza 0's unique charms certainly aren't for everyone, but I strongly suggest you at least give it a try.
