6. NieR: Automata
NieR: Automata really thrives in the midst of madcap, fast paced combat. You’ll be running all manner of dystopian industrial environments as a robot murdering warrior, who also happens to be one.
The machines come in all shapes and sizes here though, with anything from androids to little weird round things, to absolutely ginormous, skyline-dominating mobile factories, and yes, you get to fight them. Think really grungy, grimy Transformers, and you’re halfway there.
Developed by PlatinumGames, Automata is unlikely to disappoint. They’ve worked on titles such as the Bayonetta series, with simple to grasp but hard to master gameplay. If you’ve never played a Platinum Game before, NieR: Automata looks like it will be a great place to start.
They’re fairly stylistically different to other action games, and they barely ever give you time to catch your breath. The actual plot will be no doubt fairly bonkers too.
