10 Evil Horror Video Game Villains You Couldn’t Wait To Kill
7. William Birkin - Resident Evil II
One of the biggest bads in all of Resident Evil, the ever-mutating William Birkin becomes so gross and monstrous over time that killing him almost seems like a mercy.
Initially a genius virologist, Birkin climbed the corporate ladder of the dreaded Umbrella Corporation and, in the process, unleashed the dreaded T-Virus on Raccoon City. To make matters worse, another one of his viruses turns him into the Golgotha monster.
For players, not only is this guy to blame for most of the mayhem going on, but every time you see him, he's become more ridiculously mutated. It all just gets a bit off-putting as he grows new heads and sheds old skins while his once sky high IQ gradually goes down the toilet.
By the time his fifth form's arrived, he doesn't even really have a clear anatomy anymore. Instead, he's a fleshy mound of tentacles, spikes, misshapen limbs and a detachable mouth you need to watch out for in combat. One can only assume he probably regrets exposing himself to the G-Virus by this point but that detachable mouth's not offering up much info.
Now a sickening blob of human mush, killing Birkin almost constitutes euthanasia given his formless misery. That being said, he inspires enough hatred throughout that there's plenty of satisfaction to be had in trying to take him down.
