10 Evil Video Game Characters Who Saved The Day Anyway

9. Scott Shelby - Heavy Rain

Baldur's Gate 3 Dark Urge
Quantic Dream

Scott Shelby is one of the playable characters from Heavy Rain. On the surface, Scott is a private investigator with a heart of gold, however, in the finale, you discover that he's actually the game's main villain, the Origami Killer.

Except this isn't entirely true. That is, both Scott's personalities are equally a part of him, seeing as throughout his fake detective career, he has managed to save at least one life.

Although Scott is responsible for kidnapping and killing multiple children, including Ethan's son, if you don't do so well in the final showdown, when you play as him, he does achieve quite a few heroic deeds.

Early on, he stops one of his victims' mothers, Lauren, from committing suicide, and then saves her life a second time when their car falls into a lake.

On top of that, he protects her from dangerous criminals and convinces her to keep living after her son's death.

The testament to him being a good guy as well as the villain is that if you help Lauren stay alive until the end, she will visit his grave, showing the impact he's had on her.

Yes, he's a mentally scarred killer, but he also treats his fake good guy act very seriously.
