The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an iconic RPG that cannot be praised enough for what it accomplished. CD Projekt RED had crafted a remarkable game in terms of its sheer scope, visual fidelity, and, most importantly, its exceptional character-driven story.

When beginning the game for the first time, though, titular monster hunter Geralt’s mission appears straight forward. He’s tasked by the emperor to track down his daughter Ciri, with his first stop being to a small settlement run by a warlord known as The Bloody Baron. But before he’ll tell Geralt what he wants to know, he requests that the wticher finds his wife and daughter who’ve recently went missing.

After a brief investigation, though, the Baron’s abusive behaviour comes to light as the reason his family left. The mystery of what happened seems to be open and shut at this point. But then the Baron reveals his side of the story.

His tale is one of misfortune, jealousy, and regret that's enough to make us sympathetic towards his situation. Nothing in the world of The Witcher is black and white when it comes to its morality. And this conversation with the baron is when we understood this properly.
