Telltale

For a little while, Telltale were the masters of simple but effective narrative-driven video games. However, to this day, very few of their releases have matched the height of The Walking Dead's first season of episodic chapters.

The game centres on criminal escapee Lee and lonely, lost girl Clementine who band together during the zombie apocalypse to search for the latter's parents. Across the adventure, players are forced to make uncomfortable and harrowing choices that are guaranteed to make them allies as well as enemies. Most chapters in fact have a final decision that can yield a variety of results, most of which end in someone dying so that someone else lives.

The end of episode 4 is where this format begins to change. Lee, bitten by a walker, is done for. Everyone who has seen zombie media knows where this is going.

And so players waited nearly two months for the concluding episode, appropriately titled "No Time Left". This final act of the story has some interesting decisions, but it's climax simply asks players if Clementine should shoot Lee and stop him from turning him into a zombie or not. He's dead either way.

According to The Walking Dead wiki, 95% of players decided to put Lee out of his misery and they had probably spent the last two months leading up to that release thinking about it.
