10 Exact Video Game Moments That Made Fans Rage Quit
8. Blighttown - Dark Souls
Fans of the Dark Souls series frequently deem it to be "tough but fair", though many of those very same cheerleaders likely found themselves putting the game down for weeks or months once they reached the dreaded Blighttown area.
It's as though FromSoftware felt that players were getting too accustomed to the game's systems and level of threat, so decided to deliver a violent kick in the face with this area full of perilous walkways, blowdart-firing enemies that emerge seemingly out of nowhere and a poisonous swamp to top it all off.
In the original console release, this difficulty was compounded by terrible performance, where Blighttown would typically run at a low framerate, an issue that was at least remedied with the recent remaster.
And in addition to all this, the two bonfires in the area are easily missed, meaning it's highly likely you'll need to start the whole area again upon dying, which you will, a lot.
Though the upper section of Blighttown is mercifully optional, you still need to be incredibly well-prepared and have a healthy dose of luck on your side to make it through. Even for the standards of FromSoft, this was taking the proverbial.
