From the creators of Bastion and Transistor comes Pyre, an action RPG developed for Windows and PlayStation 4. Developer Supergiant Games has found plenty of success with their previous titles thanks to their utilization of visually-striking art styles, excellent soundtracks, and engaging stories. With Pyre, Supergiant seems primed to keep that trend going.

The story follows the illiterate protagonist who finds three exiled citizens trapped in purgatory. They join forces with one another so that they may cleanse their souls through the elimination of other exiles. The game's combat plays similarly to Supergiant's Transistor as the player must find a way to destroy pyres within each combat encounter.

How this is done completely depends on the player's style, as you take control of each playable character and dictate their every move. In between these battles are traveling sections where you get to decide whether the player's team takes part in scavenging for supplies, lessons about the game's world, or mentoring sessions for the three exiles.

With the developer's great track record, this is a game that should be on your radar, especially if you've enjoyed any of Supergiant's previous work. Pyre may not have been on your radar before, but it deserves to be now.
