7. Triangle Strategy
At a Nintendo direct showcase in 2021, a game with the working title 'Project Triangle Strategy' was announced with a first look at gameplay. The footage shown featured an incredible pixel art style and a turn based combat system reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics which both surprised and delighted fans worldwide.
Later that year, Square Enix announced that the game will ship with the title Triangle Strategy (yes, really) in March 2022 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
Despite visually utilizing pixel sprites, the assets are layered with high definition textures, effects and lighting. This leads to the games signature '2D HD' style which is instantly recognizable and similar to Square Enix's previous sprite based RPG title Octopath Traveler.
In addition to the beautiful art style, Traingle Strategy will feature a dynamic story which will be shaped by the decisions and actions of the player throughout the 50 hour campaign. With the modern twist on an established tactical RPG formula, this looks to be a perfect addition to Nintendo's gaming library.
