10 Failed PS2 Games That Became Cult Classics
6. Shadow Of Rome
We as a society are irreparably fascinated with Ancient Rome, or at least our gory, mostly inaccurate version thereof. So it makes sense that there have been lots of games made centring around the bloody theatrics of the colosseum. And Shadow Of Rome...sure is one of those.
Not bad by any means, not at all. In fact, if you're a gorehound, this game is some of the bloodiest action on the PS2. But with God Of War acting as the competition, there simply is no comparison.
However, taken on its own, Shadow Of Rome is quite a lot of fun, which is probably why it has the cult that it does. Tearing an opponent apart in this game feels so damn satisfying, as the sound perfectly blends with the gore flying everywhere. And really, that's the only part this game absolutely needed to get right.
Didn't save it from its sales, though, as Capcom is more likely to return to Mega Man before giving this franchise another shot. But if you want some good gory action and don't feel like slicing it up as Kratos for some reason, you could definitely do a lot worse.
