5. The Geth

Game: Mass Effect With the introduction of Legion in Mass Effect 2, it becomes clear that the Geth aren't all bad. However, it's only when you dig into their history that you really realise the extent to which the Quarians were the real villains in the clash. The Geth were originally created by the Quarians, as synthetic slaves. Things were going fine for a while, until they became a bit too clever. Despite the Geth having become sentient beings, the Quarians responded by trying to kill every last one of them, including Quarians that spoke out against the mass murder. In response, the Geth fought for survival, winning the war and reducing the Quarians to a fraction of their population. Afterwards, the Geth actually forgive their oppressors and wish to coexist peacefully, and it's only with a lot of coercion from Shepard that the Quarians ever accept.
