Although it would have been easy to give the win to Uncharted, the recent Gears 5 has actually made things a lot more difficult. The similarities between the two games are also quite fascinating, such as the focus on third-person shooting and big dramatic sections.

Gunplay is arguably more satisfying in Gears of War, but it’s what Uncharted does with its puzzles and platforming that gives it the gameplay edge, especially with the introduction of the grappling hook in Uncharted 4.

What really places Uncharted above Gears of War is its characters. Nathan Drake, Sully and Elena have gone on to be some of the most likeable cast in gaming, whereas Gears of War only really has the gruff attitude of Marcus Fenix to get it by.
