10 Fan-Demanded Video Game Sequels That Should NEVER Happen

7. Prince Of Persia

Prince of Persia was Ubisoft's premiere franchise in the 2000s. The original trilogy pioneered the kind of action-platforming that other games dreamed of having, with a distinctive setting and art style that made it instantly iconic. Unfortunately, once those games wrapped, the publisher struggled to find new ways to innovate, delivering an ambitious-but-flawed reboot in 2008, and then an interim sequel with The Forgotten Sands.

Both were decent efforts, but in the wake of Assassin's Creed's popularity (a game which itself was originally a Prince of Persia sequel that became its own thing), PoP felt a little archaic. It's for that reason why the franchise probably hasn't returned, despite constantly being requested at every Ubisoft press event.

Other franchises from the publisher are far easier to mould into different things, with the likes of Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six and Far Cry all being able to innovate and never feel stale. When it comes to Prince of Persia though, if you expand the core gameplay, you just get Assassin's Creed, and with that series still kicking, there isn't room for both.
