10 Fanatical Gamers Who Took Their Obsession Way Too Far

7. American Teenagers Kill 7-Year-Old Girl - Mortal Kombat

Many of us grew up as fans of the great beat em ups of our time - from Street Fighter II to the Mortal Kombat games, they were defining games of our era, and no doubt more than a few of us pretended to be our favourite characters on the playground, mimicking their moves. Colorado teenagers Lamar Roberts, 17, and Heather Trujillo, 16 took things way too far back in 2007 when they were charged with killing killing Trujillo's 7-year-old stepsister Zoe Garcia using moves imitated from Mortal Kombat. After hitting, kicking and body slamming her, Zoe lost consciousness - the teens tried to revive her but were unsuccessful and she died later that day in hospital. After pleading guilty, the two were sentenced to 18 years in prison.
