9. Metro Redux
While another high-profile piece of post-apocalyptic media may at first be met with the familiar audible sigh that comes with seeing the entertainment industry repeatedly kick this dead horse of a genre even further into the ground, 2014's Metro Redux was a reminder as to why everyone fell in love with end-of-the-world tales in the first place. With the added polishing of two already brilliant first person shooters, blasting your way through the atmospheric and incredibly intense world of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light provides players with an unmatched post-apocalyptic experience for a number of reasons. Whether youre stalking mercenaries in the titular Metro stations beneath Moscow or braving the monsters that roam the deserted and irradiated surface, Redux is so steeped in personality and horror that it completely sets itself apart from other, more generic dystopian survival games. Boasting gameplay that's just as tight as its setting while adopting a survival horror approach that only allows you a handful of limited resources, youll be hard-pressed to find an experience as unsettling or as complete as either of these two games.
