10 Fearsome Video Game Women You Should Never Mess With

2. Metroid/Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Samus Aran

Whatever infected freaks Ellie and Joel face, and whatever hordes of biological tragedies faced down by Sheva and Jill, all of these look downright tame when compared to the legions of monsters that have perished in front of Samus' Arm Cannon.

The heroine of the Metroid series, Samus is an intelligent, adaptive, highly-skilled and independent bounty hunter who is often in service of the Galactic Federation - although her incarnation in Metroid: Other M was significantly lacking in the "independent" part.

Much like Jill, Samus' backstory spills several games - although her history is arguably more chaotic. Throughout the series, Samus, in her iconic Power Suit (and its multiple upgrades) is traversing a host of hostile planets, battling against even more hostile fauna, ranging from the laughable Hornoads and Sheegoths to far more formidable opponents such as Ridley, Kraid, Mother Brain, and the seemingly endless amounts of Zebesian Space Pirates - who usually form the bulk of Samus' targets.

From the machinations of Mother Brain, to the rise of Dark Samus, to the deadly hordes of the titular Metroids - parasites that drain their prey's life force - to the uncanny intelligence of the predatory X Parasites, Samus has time an again risen to the various challenges of everything that's been thrown at her - sometimes by the skin of her teeth.

Just like Zelda, Samus was added to the large roster of combatants in Super Smash Bros., albeit slightly more cumbersome. Samus in her armored form is slow, clunky, and although packing a host of ranged attacks and fairly decent close range abilities, is overall somewhat difficult to use. Without the armor, as Zero-Suit Samus, she's far more maneuverable and agile, although significantly less powerful - with her Arm Cannon replaced by a pistol, she lacks the advantages of her normal form, only gaining a noticeable boost in speed.

That being said, there's perks to being Samus. And how does she switch between suits during battle, you might ask?
