10 Features Pokémon Sword & Shield Desperately Needs

7. More Postgame

Pokémon has often struggled with this, but even without a New Game+ there are plenty of ways to extend the postgame.

There’s usually something to do, like some new battles or a Legendary to catch, but once you catch this Legendary there’s not that much to do with it, as the new battles tend to be few and far between.

Let’s Go gave us Master Trainers: experts who specialised in a single Pokémon and challenged you to a one on one. A rarity for NPCs, these trainers tended to be clever with type matchups and status moves, as well as having a ‘mon with great IVs and EVs, so they posed more of a challenge than usual.

Some sort of prologue would be welcome too, perhaps with the villainous team needing to be defeated once and for all. If not that, rematching the gym leaders with new and improved teams offers something new as well.

Frequently, certain caves or areas with strong ‘mons to catch are only available at the end, but this has less charm and there's usually nothing to do once you get them.

Of course, there has been one massive request for postgame which could finally happen in Sword & Shield...
