10 Features Pokémon Sword & Shield Desperately Needs
4. Randomiser
This is more than likely not going to happen unless we get the fabled New Game+, but it’s still worth considering. It would definitely shake gameplay up and provide everyone with a unique team and fresh perspective.
Before the game is even out, we know that most trainers will have the same early team. A starter, weak Normal type, early bird, Bug type... it’s the same most games. By the time you reach the second gym, likely the Bug and maybe even the Normal have been moved on for better catches, and our rosters start to diversify.
The un-evolved forms of the likes of Gardevoir, Staraptor, Nidoking & Nidoqueen can all be caught early in various versions too, so some are worth keeping around.
A randomiser would change all this. Typically only used in rom hacks, randomisers shuffle up every encounter. No Pokémon are native to routes, none are rare and none are common. Each Pokémon has the exact same chance of appearing; the only thing retained is the level.
This means you could stumble across a Level 3 Metagross on Route 1 with a randomiser, just as likely as Level 3 Caterpie. It’s a completely different way to play, and has bags of replay value.
