10 Female Video Game Characters You Totally Fell In Love With
6. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider)
Depending on your disposition Lara has always been a strong female role, the difference these days is with so many hot-button topics doing the rounds, it's easy to point to the way she used to be portrayed and use it as an all-encompassing damning indictment on how every single gamer saw (or sees) women. The fact is that at the time there were groans and pointed fingers aimed at Ms. Croft, but for the most part whether you were male or female, she was still imminently appealing. Many female gamers have commented that just the fact there was a women on screen rather than a man was reason enough to be excited, whereas for the rest of the red-blooded males - we just enjoyed seeing an attractive lady kick major ass. Last year's reboot aimed to address the comments surrounding Lara's over-sexualised nature by having her take a huge amount of punishment, as well as making her character model more in-tune with that of a generally athletic build, and judging by how well it's been received it goes to show a well-written character is what's shone through in each instalment.
