10 Forgotten Gaming Characters Nintendo Needs To Revive

6. Prince Of Hyrule

Prince_of_Hyrule €œThere€™s a Prince of Hyrule?€ That€™s probably what you€™re thinking. And the answer is yes, there was one, a long time ago. He is featured solely in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Never seen in the actual game, he is featured only in the prologue, although artwork accompanying the game features a drawing of him. As the story goes, the Prince ascended the throne one day, only to find that he could not inherit the entire Triforce. Following this, he gets duped by an evil magician into badgering Zelda about the location of the Triforce of Courage, which in turn causes the magician to put her into a deep sleep. The Prince is grief stricken and thus decides to lock her away. Tragic, no? There€™s no real explanation as to why Nintendo never bothered to do anything else with this character. I believe he has potential though, perhaps they could reinsert him into a new Legend of Zelda game, maybe he€™s jealous of Zelda€™s power of something and attempts to take the throne for himself. In his first appearance he becomes corrupted by the Magician before feeling guilty, perhaps something similar could happen in which a normally innocent character is driven to do evil acts because of a character flaw. You could give the game some sort of Game of Thrones-esque storyline, where the Prince is competing with Zelda for the throne. Not only could he make for an interesting villain, but it would be an interesting way to deviate from the Zelda formula.
