10 Forgotten Gaming Franchises That Must Return At E3 2015

10. Onimusha

There was a time when God of War, Devil May Cry and Onimusha all battled for limb-severing supremacy - and boy was it a good one. DMC had the gothic architecture sewn up, GoW the epic Ancient Greek creatures and testosterone-filled one-liners, whilst Onimusha was Capcom's visual powerhouse that mixed Resident Evil-style static backgrounds, demonic takes on famous warlords and their undead armies with foreground animation to create one hell of an enjoyable showcase. The second game saw the team 'resurrect'/digitise legendary real-world Japanese samurai Yagyū Munetoshi as the face of hero Jūbei Yagyū, but it was Oni 3 that brought in the Hollywood might of Jean Reno, created one of the greatest opening cinematics in gaming history and refined the core combat to be as tight and shiny as the soul-stealing blades within. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tki5y2Llyp8 Fourth instalment Dawn of Dreams was a solid enough affair but lacked the main character-clout of the previous iterations, however with Capcom floundering to deliver anything worthwhile for any of their top-tier franchises these days (especially Resident Evil) it throws the gates wide open for a left-field choice like this to gain some ground with long-time fans, exposing newcomers to the fantastic world of Onimusha in the process.
