6. Dark Seed

Do you like the Alien franchise? Do you like genuinely uncomfortable and stilted acting? Do you like mullets?

Well, Dark Seed is the game for you my friend, as this title is so incredibly odd that I can feel my skin crawling just from looking at stills of it.

At first glance, it seems that this will be just another point and click adventure, but when your first night's sleep involved our character Mike getting his head torn open by something that even H.R Giger would say "um that's a bit phallic there friend", you know things are about to drop off a cliff. Indeed, if you think the art looks more than a little like Giger's, it's because he actually was approached by Cyberdreams to use his work, and he gave his blessing.

What transpires next is a hauntingly eerie game that feels like a lost episode of The Twilight Zone, with genuinely unnerving interactions with the townsfolk giving way to pure unadulterated horror when Mike explores alien worlds that appear purpose-designed to incite disgust. Pushing you through this is the fact that Mike will die from an alien embryo planted in your brain hatching, so not only do you have to face some truly grim imagery, but do so under a time limit!

Jules Gill hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
