10 Forgotten Playstation Classics That Would Sell Millions

3. Soul Reaver

Powered by similar tech as earlier Tomb Raider games, the Soul Reaver franchise took puzzle-based open-world gaming up a notch when Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was released for the PS One. Starring Raziel, an undead wraith who was a vampire until he was betrayed by his master Kain and cast into an abyss, Soul Reaver allowed you to move between two planes - the physical and spiritual world - to manipulate the environment, monsters and Raziel's abilities. It was an extremely difficult game, but also incredibly rewarding for those who stuck with it. Thankfully Soul Reaver has had several sequels, but hasn't been seen for a good few years. There's a free-to-play multiplayer game called Nosgoth coming out soon, but the main series has been put out to pasture for the moment in favour of the MMO-esque experience. Intriguingly, it appears as if there was a full-fledged PS4 launch title named Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun in development before the plug was pulled. On a post over on Neogaf, a leaked collection of assets from the game - which was to take place several centuries after the other games - show what might have been. They're legit too; an actual developer who worked on the game joined the conversation and posted loads of additional assets, showing a new character and concept art. It looked absolutely great, and why it was pulled remains a mystery. Apparently loads of the game was done; everything from nicely gothic cutscenes to voice acting was in place before the big axe came down and chopped it out of our lives. Maybe it still exists somewhere out there and is being retooled into something else, but we really do need another entry in this franchise pretty soon.
