9. Dino Crisis
This game was dubbed "survival panic" in contrast to Capcom's previous title
Resident Evil. The story centered involved an agency called SORT, sending an agent on a recon mission to Ibis Island. While there, he discovers that Dr. Edward Kirk, a world renowned scientist who was reported dead, is working on a secret weapons project. SORT then send a team consisting of Rick, Gail, Cooper and the playable character Regina. Cooper gets blown off-course, chased and ultimately devoured by a T-Rex. The others, not realizing this, continue on with the mission. The core gameplay of this series was pitting you up against all manner of dinosaurs, which we learn are on the island due to Dr Kirk's research involving "Third Energy." The dinosaurs were quick and intelligent, unlike their zombie counterparts, meaning you'd have to be either quick on your feet or your trigger finger. The first game was followed up by the sequel
Dino Crisis 2, this time involving a whole city disappearing caused by an anomaly on the outskirts of the city. Regina returns along with a new ally called Dylan, who has some form of connection to the whole event. The second game departed from the more horror-orientated original, this time focusing more on action and less on puzzles, though this was by no means a bad decision - if anything it helped give the series its own identity.
Dino Crisis 3, well, as much as I don't want to get into this, I guess I have to. Set in the future this time around, they story involved a ship reappearing, which was lost for 300 years. A team is again sent to investigate and find the ship now full with dinosaur clones. That's right: clones. This game took a whole departure from the previous two games and at times, was enjoyable, but for the majority of the experience, it just didn't feel like a true
Dino Crisis game. Why it needs a comeback: This series could do with a serious reboot with current generation graphics, voice acting and gameplay. The storyline from
Dino Crisis 2 deserves a true followup to the events presented at the end of the game. If
Resident Evil managed okay there is no reason why
Dino Crisis can rise up and enjoy the same success
Resident Evil is continuing to have.
