Then:

Back in the eighties and into the nineties the Dizzy series was the golden goose that just kept laying for Codemasters.

From Spectrum calling card adventure Dizzy – The Ultimate Cartoon Adventure, all the way to multi-platform hits Treasure Island Dizzy and Magicland Dizzy (the pinnacle of the series), gamers couldn’t get enough of this oval explorer.

Each instalment included a mix of leaping over perilous drops and collecting items to use in puzzles, but, for a character that was drawn as an egg by accident, it was Dizzy’s cutesy appeal that was the real appear of this series.

Now:

Dizzy last graced our shelves in 1992’s Crystal Kingdom, and since then fans have been serviced by way of the odd compilation here or there and a failed Kickstarter campaign.

The fires of hope continue to be stoked by Codemasters, though, who after launching a neat remaster of Prince Of The Yolk Folk on iOS and Android in 2011 believe there may still be a slot in-between the likes of Ratchet, Clank and Sackboy for a next generation Dizzy adventure.
